Before the completion of an undergraduate degree, every student is subject to an industrial attachment where they get to be exposed to real life situations which help them to get acquainted to solving real life problems. My name is Praise Msundire and apart from being a volunteer at the organisation, I am also doing my industrial attachment at SWIZIMAID trust. This has been from November 2020. SWIZIMAID trust is an organisation which focuses on poverty alleviation, health support as well as educational support for the underprivileged people in Zimbabwe.

Working with SWIZIMAID trust has been a great experience. I have gained a lot of knowledge from the friendly staff and volunteers who have incorporated me and made me feel like part of the family. The organisation has so far engaged in various activities which are aimed at alleviating poverty, and I managed to partake in the food distribution programme for Child Headed Homes which the organisation did in December 2020. This was a hands-on activity through which I got exposed to real life situations. Now the organisation is embarking on several projects which are being done by the early learners and these include baking, making a movable fowl run, carpentry, nutritional gardens, building a pump room attached to an outside kitchen.

This has created an opportunity for me to learn and to acquire livelihood skills which is a rare opportunity that I got lucky to find. Also through SWIZIMAID trust, I have managed to know my purpose. The organisation has given me an opportunity to actually enhance my creativity.  As such I looked forwards to continue lending a helping hand to the underprivileged people in the society through SWIZIMAID even after my internship I will continue as a volunteer as it is my desire to improve the lives of people in the community.
